Joni Jazz
November 30, 2007

This week on Afterglow it’s “Joni Jazz: Joni Mitchell,” with a program highlighting both jazz interpretations of the singer-songwriter’s work, as well as some of her own jazz-influenced recordings. We’ll hear music from Herbie Hancock’s new Mitchell tribute River: the Joni Letters, and recordings from Brad Mehldau, Cassandra Wilson, and Luciana Souza, plus selections from Mitchell’s albums Mingus, The Hissing of Summer Lawns, and Hejira. Other artists on the program include Frank Sinatra, John Coltrane, Teddy Wilson, and Lambert, Hendricks and Ross. “Joni Jazz” airs Friday, November 30 at 10:05 p.m. EST on WFIU.

Afterglow airs every Friday evening at 10:05 p.m. EST on WFIU. Broadcasts are made available for listening at any time the following week in the Afterglow archives.
