Democrat Barack Obama defeats Republican John McCain to become the 44th President of the United States, NPR projects.
With 99% of precincts reporting, NPR projects Obama will defeat McCain in Indiana, claiming the state’s 11 electoral votes by a margin of 22,986 votes (1,352,356 to 1,329,370).

Bartenders at the Story Inn created two drinks this fall as caricatures of the presidential candidates. WFIU’s Stan Jastrzebski sampled both drinks before Election Day and reports they were slyly representative of each candidate and overall sales proved good predictors for the nationwide contest itself.
A gentleman called earlier this evening wondering why WFIU wasn’t airing Ether Game, our usual Tuesday night programming. Election coverage is not news, he protested.
