Robert Samels
Announcer
Robert
Samels happily joined the WFIU announcing team in December 2002,
and began writing Ether Games in November 2003. When he is not on
the air, Robert is busy pursuing his Doctorate from IU in choral
conducting. He currently studies voice with Distinguished Professor
Giorgio Tozzi. He is also an associate instructor of Music Theory
at IU, and teaches ear-training and sight-singing to over 200 students
a year.
Robert received Bachelor's degrees in Vocal Performance, Music
Composition and Music History from Bowling Green State University
in Ohio, and a Master's in Vocal Performance from IU.
When not in "music-mode", Robert loves to read, cook and
juggle. This is his first job as an announcer, but he has grown
up with public radio and has fond memories of falling asleep in
the backseat of his parents' car to the dulcet tones of Garrison
Keillor.
