The Big Bands
Fridays at 9 p.m. |
The Big Bands celebrates the Swing Era of the 30s and 40s
every week, as well as the wealth of post-World War II and
modern big-band jazz birthed to us by this grand American
musical tradition. You'll hear all the greats-Basie, Ellington,
Miller and more-as well as forgotten chart giants of yesteryear
such as Kay Kyser and unsung leaders like Sam Donahue and
Boyd Raeburn. The joy and vitality of swing is timeless,
whether you're looking to tap your toes, do the Lindy-Hop,
or just swoon to a romantic strain. The Big Bands is there
for you every Friday night at 9 on WFIU.
