You & Me
Weekday Afternoons from 3:30 to 5:00
Joe Bourne brings you new and classic jazz
every weekday afternoon on WFIU from 3:30 to 5 p.m., as
well as guests both famous and local (and sometimes both!)
on Just You and Me. Whether you're at the office, driving
home, or enjoying a pleasant, lazy day with the radio, Joe's
mellow melodies and friendly conversation will help you
ease into your evening.
Your Host - Joe Bourne
Joe
Bourne is producer/host of the daily jazz program, Just
You & Me. He began his career in public radio some 30
years ago (before NPR!), while a Sociology student at Bellarmine
University. Two years at the Louisville School of Art intensified
his interest in the visual arts, but it was music that won
out when he returned to radio, hosting classical programs
and establishing the first jazz programming at WFPL in Louisville.
Commercial stints would follow at WAVE and WAKY.
Joe is now in his 22nd year as jazz director & host
at WFIU, where his goal has been "to bring to listeners
my love for an art form with a fascinating history. Perhaps
its my sociology background, but I believe jazz is
made all the more appealing when we get to know and appreciate
those people who spend their lives creating this music.
When you listen to the music I play, youll also get
to know the musicians."
